Categories and Classes

Novice Tournament

Typical Year 1 Student
0 to 5 tournament bout experience
must wear Chest protector
Knee Pads, Shin-In step
Head gear, Mouth Piece and Cup
Chest Guard Hand Wraps and Gloves
-10 oz for up to 10 Y.O.
-12 oz for up to 100 lbs
-14 oz for up to 140 lbs
-16 oz for over 140 lbs

Legal Techniques are:
Boxing to head and body
Kicks to Body Protector
Kicks to the thigh area above the knee
Knee Strikes to the Body
Limited Clinch with Max 2 consecutive knees
(Must release immediate regardless of continuation of attack)

Illegal techniques:
Kicks to the head
Stomp Kicks to any area of the leg
Catch and Plow more than 3 steps
Throws with elevation
Spinning Hand Techniques such as backfist
No Elbows whatsoever
Wrestling type Takedowns such as reaching for Double Leg
Jumping Punches, Knees and Kicks

Advantage points:
Respectful nature before during and after the bout
Clean Muay Thai Technique
Use of footwork
Ability to make opponent miss and counter strike with Legal Techniques

Disadvantage Points:
Rushed wild style
Unsportsmanlike behavior such as use of Profanity or
