Below are four quick videos of me introducing the importance of weight training to young athletes.
In the first video, I tell them not to be “Mirror Athletes”. Training hard in the gym for performance gains on the field is what should matter to an athlete. When you focus on physical appearance and how good you look in the mirror, this does not equate to better performance. What does equate to better “On the Field Performance” is practicing your sport (Practice Makes Perfect!), becoming stronger, explosive, flexible, healthier eating habits, and disciplined in the weight room. When you do this, it will improve your physical appearance, but you will have also improved your athleticism. Remember, Weight Training for a young athlete or any athlete is preparation (GPP) for sport. Put the discipline and time in the gym and watch your “on the field performance” and muscular looks improve.
