Master Melody Shuman’s Updated Child Instructor Certification Review

I recently attended Master Melody Shuman’s Updated Child Instructor Certification Course. First of all I wanted to thank KRU Training for hosting the event. It is rare that Master Melody does her Certification outside her St. Pete based school and she has visited the Bergenfield, NJ based location for about a decade now. She is not just THE authority on Child Instructor training for the martial arts, but her experience on the mat and how to improve the delivery of any instructor is second to none.

Not only did Master Melody coer the stages of Development which highlights what most schools are doing wrong with thier curriculum, but also newly included her 5 Behavioral Sciences and 10 Commandments to help the instructor understand what they need to know about their audience – children.

Some actual children filling the ages of 3 & 4, 5 7 6, 7 to 8 and 10 to 14 age groups were brought in to work with all the instructors in attendance and Master Melody herself to lead. We not only saw some interesting drills but we saw some flaws many of us make ourselves and the need to improve upon.

No Test would be complete without an exam, which we pulled out all the knowledge learned that day and earned a certificate in her prestigious program. Thank you again to Master Melody on keeping us on our toes and helping us improve on our skills as teachers.
