TV Show Recommendation and Review

This one is for all you business owners or those just starting out. My entertainment show pick is ABC’s Shark Tank. I have been a fan and have watched it from the beginning, but alot of people have not nor heard of it. Here is the quick run down. The are 5 “Sharks”, Barabara Corcoran (Real Estate Giant), Daymond John (Fashion, Founder FUBU Clothing), Kevin Harrington (Direct Response Infomericial Guru), Kevin O’Leary (Software/Patents), Robert Herjavec (Technology). 

Premise: For novice Entrepreneurs to approach the Sharks and pitch them to become a partner in their company for X dollar amount and percentage.

Takeaway: The biggest problem for these entrepreneurs is the Sharks are always surprised at how one does the valuation of their company’s worth. Also, I feel that the Sharks will always side in gaining 51% or more of the company. I do not disagree, afterall if you were to partner with someone not as seasoned or well financed, why would you want THEM to control the decision making of the company? So if you have something to sell via infomercial, pitch it to Harrington and let him run with it. Better to own 49% of something than 100% of nothing? Any comments? Check out a few episodes!
